Edward V. Spott  (1843-1928) Maple

Not much is known about this interesting looking man, or his descendants. The bronze that adorns this granite stone is a beautiful tribute to him.

The artist that donated this plaque, a portrait of Mr. Spott was done by F.H. Packer, a well known sculptor of his time. His first public commission was to model a statue of Ensign Worth Bagley which was erected in North Carolina in the capitol Square in Raleigh. The pink granite pedestal was designed by architects Lord and Hewlett.

Mr. Packer designed the Italian Renaissance lions and cartouches on the Gorham building on Fifth Avenue, New York. He also executed the President's Trophy for the cruiser Newark.

We encourage anyone with knowledge of this family to submit it, so we can further add information about their lives their lives.
