Ernest J. Habighorst  (1876-1929) Maple 119 

 

Ernest was Vice President of the New York Title Company and the American Trust Company, in charge of the Jamaica Offices in Queens.. He lived at 89-04 148th Street, Jamaica, New York.

He was born in New York on December 7th, 1876 and lived in Jamaica for 25 years. He graduated from New York University in 1896 with an A.B. degree and later received his LL. B. there.

He was the chairman of the public improvement committee of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, a trustee of the Queensborough Savings Bank. He was Past Master of the Rufus King Lodge, and more than 40 civic and political organizations. He was one of the first Trustees of the Richmond Hill Republican Club, now a New York City Landmark. He died after an illness of 5 months on May 3, 1929. He was survived by his widow, Lucy Habighorst and two sons and a daughter.
