William H. Wade ( d.1945) Prospect 279

 

William H. Wade, Jr. was the son of William H. Wade who died at the age of 68 around July 31, 1908.

William Wade Jr. was born in Yonkers and attended public school in Brooklyn and in 1893 moved to Queens and began building houses in Richmond Hill, Hollis, Queens Village and Garden City, Long Island. He was a builder of homes in several communities of Queens.

He was chairman of Queens County Republican Committee from 1914 to 1917. He was founder of the Richmond Hill Baptist Church and was chairman emeritus of its board of trustees. He was also was a founder, vice president and trustee of the Richmond Hill Saving Bank.

He lived at 118 Puritan Avenue in Forest Hills. His widow was Josephine Lynas Wade, daughter Ethel E. Wade, and a son, Lieutenant Commander Frank E. Wade who served in Okinawa. All are interred at Maple Grove.
